Cesar Florido, aka "Mr. Moscatel," produces sweet, fortified wines from Moscatel grapes, which thrive in the sandy soil of Chipiona (very proximate to Sanlucar de Barrameda). The sugar laden grapes are pressed and then ferment to about 2 degrees, at which point boiled grape must ("arope" in Spanish) is added and then the mixture is fortified up to 15% abv and aged for a year prior to being bottled. This explains the deep amber color and rich, layered, flavors. Try this original sweet elixir with desserts, dried nuts and cheeses after a meal.
