The Gaudou estate sits in Vire-sur-Lot amongst a handful of Cahors’ other most prestigious vineyad addresses – A mythical location referred to as “The Beverly Hills of the Cahors Appellation” by critic Michele Bettane. Most vines on the estate are considered “old vine,” some still on original rootstock being planted as far back as the late 1800’s! Visit these iron-rich plots on foot and you'll gaze on the haunting red-colored soil in disbelief.
The average vine age is 50 years. Full-bodied red wine blend of mostly Malbec with a splash of Merlot that was aged 14 months in French oak barrels. Look for rich and vibrant flavours of Morello cherry, cassis, savoury herbs and toasty oak spice on the palate. Great structure on this wine, drink or cellar it for 20-plus years. 13% ABV
