Chateau Magnan-Figeac Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2019

70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc

Château Magnan-Figeac used to be part of the famous Château Figeac. It is now a family-run estate covering 20 hectares which is owned by Victor Moreaud and his sister Coraline.  Nose of red fruits and slightly herbaceous undergrowth. The palate is supple, coated in a subtle woodiness, all in roundness with very fine tannins. With the richness of dense Merlot lifted by perfumed Cabernet Franc, the wine is ripe, full of blueberry and black-cherry fruit and has a fine edge of acidity.  Garnet color. Straightforward nose of blackcurrant coulis, fresh spices, toasted woody core. Good balance. Frank character. Supple, round, silky tannins. Lengthening on grilled spices. Full-bodied finish.
